One hundred years ago, a legend began

One hundred years ago this month (January 1914) Meher Baba received God-realization from the Afghan saint Hazrat Babajan. The incident happened beneath the neem tree under which she made her home, centered in the middle of the slum area of Poona known as Char Bawdi (Four Wells). Meher Baba was nineteen years old when he stopped to sit with the old woman on Malcolm Tank Road.

Although the exact date of this event other than the month is not known, it seems an especially appropriate day to celebrate it on this, Baba's 45th Amartithi.
