War for the Moon

Meher Baba in 1962
One of the strangest predictions Meher Baba ever made was that men would one day fight over possession of the Moon.

Yesterday, the US government signed an executive order that may turn out to be the first shot across the bow in that war. It sets out to allow for the entirety of outer space, and the Moon, to fall under US jurisdiction.

Backstory:
In August 1962, a year after JFK made his famous Moon speech, Meher Baba said:
"Now men are planning to go to the Moon. And the first to get there will plant his nation's flag on it, and that nation will declare: 'It is mine.' But another nation will dispute the claim, and they will fight here on this Earth for possession of that Moon."
In 1969, the Unites States did in fact plant its flag on the moon. However, for the subsequent 50 years the rest of Baba's statement seemed highly unlikely. After all, the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, seemed to preclude just such a war. Things are rapidly changing. Meher Baba may yet turn out to be right.
