There are many classical crossover singers from the late 20th century who were once considered prodigies but have now grown up. They include Charlotte Church, Patricia Janeckova, Jackie Evancho, and Charlotte Jaconelli.

Teenage female classical crossover singers who were prodigies from earlier in the 20th century included Judy Garland, Julie Andrews, and Deanna Durbin. Judy Garland was singing on tour with her sisters, The Gummy Sisters, from the age of 6 and had her film debut in a short subject called The Big Revue (1929) at the age of 7. Julie Andrews began singing on stages at the age of 10. During her initial shows, Andrews had to stand on a beer crate to sing into the microphone. At 13 Andrews became the youngest solo performer ever to be seen in a Royal Variety Performance before King George VI and Queen Elizabeth at the London Palladium. Deanna Durbin made her first film appearance at 16 in the short film Every Sunday (1936) with Judy Garland, another teenager.
