My daughter Megan is really lucky, in that she has a genuine lifelong best friend, Ashtyn Barbaree.

The fact is they have been best friends literally from Kindergarten. That's Megan in the short red hair, and Ashtyn below her in their Kindergarten class.

Lately I've been talking a lot about new young talent returning to traditional genres. Ashtyn is one of them. Her genre is indie folk. She has become a regional celebrity in her native Arkansas, and recently took advantage of Megan being in NY by setting up gigs there too.

Here is Ashtyn at the SideWalk Cafe in NY. Megan was in the audience.



Ashtyn writes most of her own songs. Her band is called The Revivalists.
