One Giant Leap for Mankind

In 1962 Meher Baba predicted that America's space mission would successfully place a man on the Moon, something that was not at all certain. He also predicted that the men who landed would plant a flag on the moon, an event out of images of Spanish conquistadors that no one would have predicted. He lastly predicted men would fight over possession of the Moon, something that still remains possible fifty years later as people discover resources there.

Baba made little of the occurrence when he predicted it, saying men would find nothing there but themselves. In spite of this appraisal of the event on its spiritual importance, I have always been quite impressed and happy we went to the moon. I never equated it with anything spiritual, but simply as an amazing physical achievement, one with no parallel.

In light of the ages I have made much of in the last weeks, this spectacular event occurred in the last age of Muhammad. Refer to this timeline for the numerous scientific breakthroughs by Islam that were essential to making the Moon Landing possible.
