Amira and her father

This is a short interview of Amira and her father Gerrit, not long after she won Holland's Got Talent. The interview was done while Amira was performing at the Starlight Classics Concerts in Somerset West, South Africa. It was her first live international performance. You can see how detached she was about her success in this interview. Below is an image of her from that Starlight Classics concert.

Amira was and is very close to her father. Sadly, her parents separated when she was 13. Gerrit and Amira had a reunion of sorts last Christmas in Dreumel, Netherlands when Gerrit accompanied Amira on the organ as she sang How Great Thou Art, a performance ending in a bow and hug that brought down the house.

An interesting thing we learn from the interview is that Amira did not know any English yet. Gerrit is interpreting into Dutch for her. Today she is fluent in English, and has also become fluent in Afrikaans. She sings in eleven languages.
