Jonathan Antoine performs "Io Sì (Seen)"

"Io sì" is an Italian song written by Diane Warren for the 2020 Italian film The Life Ahead. The movie stars 85 year old Sophia Loren. Jonathan Antoine brings light to the song, giving it qualities of beauty, hope, and spirituality that it missed.

The song "Io sì" won the awards for Song of the Year at the Capri Hollywood International Film Festival, Best International Song at the CinEuphoria Awards, Master in Music Award at the Los Angeles Italia Film Festival, Outstanding Song – Feature Film at the 11th Hollywood Music in Media Awards, Best Original Song at the 25th Satellite Awards and the award with the same name at the 78th Golden Globe Awards (the first non-English song to win the award and Pausini the first Italian singer ever to win the prize).

It also received nominations for Best Original Song at the 93rd Academy Awards making it the first song sung entirely in Italian to be nominated, and for Best Song at the 26th Critics' Choice Awards.

The Making of the Music Video

Jonathan takes us on a tour of the making of "Io Si." The final video premiered just days ago on May 7, 2021.

Jonathan Antoine is just 26 years old. Classically trained from an early age, he came to world attention after appearing on Britain's Got Talent at the age of 17. He beautifully represents the young generation that approaches classical and near classical songs with a softer more melodious voice, emphasizing beauty and sincere feeling over the strictures of past opera. For comparison see this piano recital by Brazilian opera singer Ana Paula Brunkow. It has the shrill sound that past opera was often disliked for.
