Amira is up against some of the finest opera singers in the world in South Africa. This is South African Soprano, Nombulelo Yende, in a contest at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw. She won first place.
Luckily for Amira, she will never have to compete against this kind of singer. Her area is classical crossover, which includes opera arias, gospel, and musicals. In college she plans to study music therapy, an area of psychology. She will likely get an advanced degree and teach.
Above is the school in Cape Town, Stellenbosch University, where she plans to begin her studies next year.
UPDATE 7/18/2025: Amira in the end decided against Stellenbosche University, and opted instead to get her Bachelor of Music (BM) at the Univeristy of Pretoria, which is closer to home. She is currently in her second year and continues to perform in and around Pretoria.
I also wanted to add that Nombulelo Yende's younger sister Pretty Yende, also an extraordinary South African opera singer, performed "Sacred Fire" at the corronation of King Charles in England on May 6, 2023.
